Call for Entries - Small Works Exhibition

Requirements and Guidelines
This non-juried exhibition is open to all PSBI members. Subjects must be botanically accurate representational artwork of plants or fungi. Original artwork must fit within a standard 12 x 12” frame with a 2” mat. So the actual painting should be 8x8 inches. 

Registration:
Please register on the PSBI website.
The entry fee is $25, members may submit up to 3 works.
To ensure your inclusion in the show, get your entries in early.
Each member is guaranteed at least one piece will be exhibited.

Subject Requirements:
Botanical art in watercolor, colored pencil, graphite
Original work.

$25 Entry Fee:
  • Entry covers show insurance, entry processing, and show materials.  
  • Frames are an additional $29 each payable with the entry fee.
  • Entry payment in the form of a check must be received by the treasurer
  • by April 5 if you are ordering frames, otherwise by April 26.
  • If you want a PSBI to provide your frame, your check should be for $54.
  • All current dues must be paid for an entry to be valid.
  • Mail your check, payable to PSBI,  to Tom Lessick, 3720 Knole Ln, Chadds Ford, PA 19317 

Framing Requirements: 
  • Each piece must be framed in an approved 12”X12” square frame, with a 2 inch white mat.  
  • These framing requirements are the same as ASBA’s small works requirements. 
  • If you have a small work previously shown at ASBA or are planning to show at this year’s ASBA conference in Pittsburgh, you can use the same piece(s) at this show.
  • Frames will be provided to members at a cost of $29. Please plan to deliver artwork to Sharon Gross, 3926 Landis Road, Collegeville by appointment April 19-29 and Sharon will help you to frame your work archivally.Call or text Sharon at 610-742-6973 to set up appointment.
  • Or, you may order your frame at Blick.com.  “Essential Natural Wood Frame Kit” complete with plexi-glass (Dick Blick Item # 18862-1904). If frame is on backorder, alternative frame with plexi-glass can be found on Jerry’s Artarama (https://www.jerrysartarama.com/ambiance-gallery-wood-frames Model # 71551 for the Gallery Wood 1-1/2” Deep Frame 12" x 12". Artwork must be matted with white or off-white mat, tight-wired for hanging with D-rings.
 
Registration: Artists must submit their entry information electronically through the submissions page in the Members section of the PSBI website.

Drop Off for framed art:
April 19-29 to Robby Schlesinger in Elkins Park, PA.  Please package your paintings for safety.  Call or text Robby one day before drop off please. Pouches made of bubble wrap or reflective insulation are best.

By appointment April 19-29 to Sharon Gross, 3926 Landis Road, Collegeville by appointment Sharon will help you to frame your work archivally.

An Artist’s Entry Form must be completed and delivered along with artwork (available on the Member Page on the PSBI website. This form is fillable on your computer before printing out, or you may print out the form and fill it in by hand.). •Title of artwork is the artist’s choice, but please do include the nomenclature if you know it. 

Insurance: • PSBI carries insurance to cover a major loss of artwork including but not limited to: theft, destruction of the artwork by fire or vandalism; destruction of the artwork due to major accidents such as dropping or water leaks from roof or plumbing. • Normal wear-and-tear to frames, glazing and matting such as soiling, scratching or chipping are not considered major losses. • All entry forms must include an insurance valuation. Any entry received without a valuation will be listed as NFS with a value of $100. • All claims must be submitted to the PSBI Show Producer within five days of the end of the show in order to be considered.

Sale of Works: • Artwork must be priced for sale or clearly marked as NFS. Priority placement in the gallery will be given to works which are for sale during the show. All sales will be handled by the curator of the show (Robby Schlesinger). All proceeds go to the artist,
