Requirements and Guidelines
Theme: “Beauty of Nature” This is a non-juried, members’ choice show. Artists may choose to enter their 2023 Flower Show paintings in this show. Paintings may be transferred directly from the Flower Show manager (Tom Lessick) to the DCH show.
Show Location and Dates: Delaware Center for Horticulture, 1810 N. Dupont Street, Wilmington, DE 19806.
Exhibition Dates: March 21-April 28, 2023. The show reception on April 14, 2023 will be in conjunction with the Wilmington Art Loop.
Eligibility Requirements: • Open to all PSBI members in good standing (dues fully paid for the current fiscal year) as of January 1, 2023. Entries by members with unpaid dues will not be accepted.
Subject Requirements: • Single color flat backgrounds only. Natural variations in vellum are acceptable. • No man-made objects or constructions in composition. • Previously exhibited work will be accepted• Original work. • Work must be two-dimensional, executed in any media with the exceptions of original digital, photography, and collage. Nomenclature: • All submitted work must include the specimen’s Genus. The use of ‘sp.’ is acceptable if the specific epithet or cultivar is not known.
Entry requirements: • Number of artworks per entry: 2 • $ 25 entry fee: Entry covers show insurance, entry processing, judging, and show materials. • Send checks to PSBI Treasurer, Tom Lessik, 3720 Knole Lane, Chadds Ford, PA 19317.
Submissions: • Artists can submit their entry information through the Members’ section of the PSBI website. • Please include your contact and painting information.
Framing Requirements: • Artwork must be framed in a simple lightweight plain wood, gold, or silver-toned frame. “L” shape preferred. No colored frames or complex molding will be accepted. • No metal frames. • Frame molding width not to exceed 2" and should be appropriate for the dimensions of the piece. • Minimum frame size 12" x 12", maximum 22” x 32”. • Bottom corners MUST have frame bumpers attached. • White or off-white main mats; thin liner mats of any color acceptable. • PSBI retains the right to refuse an entry at drop-off if framing is inadequate or does not follow guidelines.
Drop-Off and Packaging: • Drop-off March 21, 2022, or earlier to Diana Heitzman. Artists Entry Form must be completed and delivered along with artwork (will be available on the Member Page on the PSBI website. This form is fillable on your computer before printing out, or you may print out the form and fill it in by hand.). • Artwork must be wrapped securely in adequately protective envelopes. (Purchase at: https://www.framedestination.com/gallerypouch/gallerypouch.html) or ArtPak (http://artpak.net/). • All packaging must collapse flat. • All packaging must have the appropriate labels.
Insurance: • PSBI carries insurance to cover a major loss of artwork including but not limited to: theft, destruction of the artwork by fire or vandalism; destruction of the artwork due to major accidents such as dropping or water leaks from roof or plumbing. • Normal wear-and-tear to frames, glazing, and matting such as soiling, scratching or chipping are not considered major losses. • All entry forms must include an insurance valuation. • All claims must be submitted to the PSBI Show Producer within five days of the end of the show in order to be considered.
Sale of Works: • Artwork must be priced for sale. • DCH will accept payment for artwork. DCH can accept cash, checks, Mastercard, Visa, and American Express payments. DCH will keep 35% of the sale price and forward the remainder to the exhibitor at the end of the show. DCH will provide the purchaser with an acknowledgment of their purchase, which will also be copied to the exhibitor. Artists or exhibitors are expected to complete a W-9 form if their artwork is sold. • No paintings may be removed until the show is over.
Pick-up: • Artists will be notified of pick-up arrangements after the show strikes on April 28.
