Requirements and Guidelines
Theme/Title: Botanical in Nature
Show Location: Space 1026 Gallery, 844 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA
Special Note: This is a members’ choice show. Submit your favorite works for inclusion in the show. $30 covers as many as eight entries per artist. To ensure your inclusion in the show, get your entries in early. Each member is guaranteed at least two pieces will be exhibited. For this show at Space 1026 only, the usual framing rules and strict nomenclature rules have been relaxed just a little bit. As usual, we are looking for botanical correctness. Please read the prospectus and take note. Please note these changes will not apply to future PSBI shows.
Eligibility Requirements:
Open to all PSBI members in good standing (dues fully paid for the current fiscal year) as of January 1, 2024. Entries by members with unpaid dues will not be accepted.
Subject Requirements: Botanical art in watercolor, colored pencil, graphite
- Previously exhibited work will be accepted.
- Original work.
- Work must be two-dimensional, executed in any media (with the exception of original digital photography).
Entry requirements:
- Number of artworks per entry: 8
- $30 entry fee: Entry covers show insurance, entry processing, judging, and show materials.

- All current dues must be paid for an entry to be valid.
Submissions: Artists must submit their entry information electronically through the submissions page in the Members section of the PSBI website.
Framing Requirements: • Artwork must be attractively framed. Mats can be colored. The title of the artwork is the artist’s choice, but please do include the nomenclature if you know it. Minimum frame size 12" x 12".
• A hanging wire with a D-ring or other flat-wired hangers (no screw eyes) must be attached to the frame.
• Wire, under hanging tension, must allow 2" from the top of the frame to cover the hanger hook.
Note: Framing requirements for this exhibit are more relaxed than in other, more stringent exhibitions. We will accept deviations from the standard. However, a thin wood, gold, or silver frame (1-2”) with a white mat is still the best option if you are framing a previously unframed piece.
Drop-Off: Drop-off October 20, 21, or 22, 2023 to Robby Schlesinger in Elkins Park, PA. If you need an earlier drop-off date, contact Robby Schlesinger directly to make arrangements. Please package your paintings for safety. Pouches made of bubble wrap or reflective insulation are best.
An Artist’s Entry Form must be completed and delivered along with artwork (available on the Member Page on the PSBI website). This form is fillable on your computer before printing out, or you may print out the form and fill it in by hand.). • Artwork must be wrapped securely in adequately protective envelopes.

Insurance: • PSBI carries insurance to cover a major loss of artwork including, but not limited to: theft, destruction of the artwork by fire or vandalism; destruction of the artwork due to major accidents such as dropping or water leaks from roof or plumbing. • Normal wear-and-tear to frames, glazing, and matting such as soiling, scratching, or chipping are not considered major losses. • All entry forms must include an insurance valuation. Any entry received without a valuation will be listed as NFS with a value of $100. • All claims must be submitted to the PSBI Show Producer within five days of the end of the show in order to be considered.
Sale of Works: • Artwork must be priced for sale or clearly marked as NFS. Priority placement in the gallery will be given to works that are for sale during the show. With the exception of the opening reception Space 1026 will accept payment for artwork. Space 1026 can accept cash, checks, Mastercard, Visa, and American Express payments. All sales will be handled by the curator(s). Space 1026 pays artists 70% of the retail price of any artwork sold after the show concludes by check, PayPal, or Venmo.
Space 1026 encourages artists to sell merchandise at the reception if they handle the sales themselves. During opening night, 100% of merchandise sales are given to the artist. During the month of the exhibition, Space1026 will handle the sales, and the revenue is split 70% to the artist, and 30% to Space 1026.
Artists or exhibitors are expected to complete a W-9 form if the artwork is sold. • No paintings may be removed until the show is over unless specially allowed by the Space 1026 staff.
Artwork is exhibited at the artist’s own risk. Space 1026 will take reasonable measures to monitor/protect the artwork but is not responsible for theft or damage.
Pick-up: • Artists will be notified of pick-up arrangements, which will be the week of November 28 - December 2, 2023.
