THE REBIRTH OF A GARDEN
PSBI Katrina Project

Botanical artists feel a special affinity with the plants and flowers they paint. When Hurricane Katrina destroyed The New Orleans Botanical Gardens, the members of The Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators were motivated by a member of our board to put our talents to use to help raise money to rebuild the lost orchid collection of the gardens. With help from Waterloo Gardens and Waldor Orchids, as well as various fundraising efforts we have made a sizable contribution to the rebuilding.

The 2008 Philadelphia Flower Show theme, "Jazz It Up", spurred us to continue our efforts. We have chosen this year to depict not only orchids but other flora of New Orleans as well.

A percentage of sales of any of these beautiful, original works of art will once again be used to aid in the rebuilding of the orchid collection of The New Orleans Botanical Gardens.
