Fleisher Art Memorial

Scholarship students enrolled in the PSBI-supported Scholarship Program at the Fleisher Art Memorial held an exhibit and reception May 15 th, 2004, to mark the conclusion of their 16-week course in the scientific depiction of flora and fauna. The festivities were open to all Fleisher students and parents as well as PSBI members.

The courses were taught by four instructors: PSBI president Joan Frain, PSBI member and ASBA president Scott Rawlins, and two instructors from the Fleisher Art Memorial program, Joe Masciulli and Sharon Hildebrand.     The students were instructed in a variety of pencil and watercolor techniques by Mrs. Frain and Mr. Rawlins, and the fine points of wildlife art properly incorporating botanical subjects was taught by Mr., Masciulli.    In Ms. Hildebrand's portion of the classes, students created a portfolio to conserve and present the art they had completed.

All art supplies for the 16-week course and instructor fees were provided by PSBI as part of our mission to provide opportunities for people to develop interest and skills in botanical illustration.
