2010 PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW INFORMATION

PSBI Members,
It has been brought to my attention that some of you may not clearly understand the subject matter for works to submit to this years show.

The overall title of the show is A PASSPORT TO THE WORLD. The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, which does the main entrance exhibit, will feature plants introduced to this country by plant expeditions across the world. This would be foreign countries and NOT from The Lewis and Clark expedition across the United States. The list of plants that is on the website is a TENATIVE list of plants Penn Hort will use. This is merely one possible way to choose your subject.

The Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators exhibit title will be
"CELEBRATING THE ARTIST AS EXPLORER"

We will have signage as well as a handout describing the role of the botanical artist on plant hunting expeditions throughout history. Each of our paintings will be labeled as to country or region of origin of the plant.

The 4 main exhibits that will be on the floor should also be a choice of subject matter for you. As you will see from the list below they incorporate plants from every corner of the world. Your possibilities are endless.

The satellite exhibits are:
The Holland bulb festival
The orchid festival in Thailand
Carnival in Brazil
A Majori Indian festival in New Zealand
A party in Australia

I hope we are all on the same page now. As I've said, the entire world is open.
